On July 19, 2020, a somber mood engulfed the Montezuma funeral home as friends, family, and former colleagues of the late Papa Shirandula gathered to pay their last respects.
Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula, had passed away on July 18, 2020, after a short illness due to COVID-19.
His brother-in-law, Rowland Wanyama, confirmed that Shirandula had tested positive for coronavirus and had agreed to receive home-based care until he developed breathing complications.
Following his sudden and unexpected death, moral police Ezekiel Mutua suggested that the star should be granted a state funeral, stating that he epitomised the best of the entertainment industry.
The late actor will be buried just two days after his demise in accordance with the ministry of health guidelines.
Shirandula had fallen ill and developed breathing complications after returning to Nairobi from Kakamega county on July 12.
