Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has taken to social media to express his disappointment with President Uhuru Kenyatta for not wearing a mask during a visit to the city.
On Sunday, July 19, President Uhuru Kenyatta was seen greeting residents in Nairobi without wearing a mask, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, the President's actions were a clear disregard for the health guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.
"Rais, unafanya kazi mzuri lakini bado tunakuhitaji na tunakupenda sana haswa hapa Nairobi," Sonko said in a Facebook post.
"Wakati unapotengamana na watu kama ulivyofanya leo, tafadhali vaa maski kwa sababu hujui ni nani mgonjwa Covid-19," Sonko added.
President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to Nairobi on Sunday, July 19, was met with mixed reactions from residents, with some expressing their disappointment at the President's lack of adherence to health guidelines.
"Baadhi ya watu kwa serikali yako wataogopa kukuambia lakini mimi nitakwambia ukweli kwa sababu nakujali kama unavyonijali," Sonko said.
On his Facebook page, Sonko shared a video of the President's visit, which showed the President greeting residents without wearing a mask.
