On Sunday, July 19, 2020, Kenyans eagerly anticipated the debut of a new cooking reality show, The Elite Chef, hosted by actress Azziad Nasenya and comedian Mulamwah.
The show, which premiered on YouTube, features several chefs competing in a series of cooking challenges, with the last chef standing battling it out with Mulamwah and Azziad in the final cook-off.
Aside from competing for prizes, the contestants will also have the opportunity to develop their cooking skills, as Azziad explained in a video teaser alongside Mulamwah on July 11, 2019.
"People can learn to cook, you know. You can learn slowly. I'm also not perfect. I'm a good chef, but I am not perfect," Mulamwah said, expressing his enthusiasm for the show.
A trailer from the first episode showed Azziad and Mulamwah alongside various contestants, explaining exactly what the show would entail.
Notably, Mulamwah uses his skills as a comedian to add a fun element to the show, making jokes and engaging Azziad in hilarious debates and conversations.
The two are among Kenyan entertainers who have built up large online audiences for their content on platforms including YouTube and TikTok.
