Charles Bukeko, the popular actor known as Papa Shirandula, passed away on July 18, 2020, at Karen Hospital in Nairobi after being rushed there due to complications related to a heart condition.
According to his family, his body will be repatriated from Nairobi to his home village of Namisi in Busia County on July 19, 2020, ahead of his burial on July 20, 2020.
His family has stated that he will be buried in accordance with the health ministry's guidelines for COVID-19 victims.
His nephew, Charles Wanyama, said that Shirandula had traveled from Nairobi to Western Kenya on July 12, 2020, and was found to be infected with the virus upon his return.
However, doctors allowed him to stay in home quarantine and manage his symptoms, stating that he did not have severe symptoms.
Already, police officers have been deployed to his home to ensure that all necessary procedures are followed.
His body will be accompanied by health officials who will assist in the burial and ensure that COVID-19 protocols are observed.
