On a visit to Kebirigo market in Nyamira County on July 17, 2020, Solicitor-General Ken Ogeto launched the President's initiative of Kazi Mtaani, a National Hygiene Programme aimed at engaging vulnerable youth in clean-up exercises.

While addressing the youth, Mr. Ogeto emphasized the importance of using their earnings wisely, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that securing a job, even for a day's wage, is a great privilege that requires prudent spending.

“Securing a job, even for a day’s wage in this unprecedented times where Corona has affected everyone, is a great privilege that requires one to spend their hard earned cash prudently. Most employers are currently laying off employees because of the economic crisis hurting their businesses which can no longer allow them retain all their staff on job,” Ogeto observed.

He encouraged the youth to use their earnings to start income-generating activities, such as farming and businesses, to enable them to be self-reliant and lead a decent life. Mr. Ogeto also emphasized the need for the youth to explore alternative sectors, like agriculture and the jua-kali sector, to earn handsomely and live decently.

Other officials present at the launch, including Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba and County Secretary James Ntabo, also spoke about the importance of the program and the need for the youth to work together with municipality employees to achieve the program's objectives.
