On July 19, 2020, a group of Jubilee MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto gathered at the home of Sirisia MP John Waluke for a special prayer rally.

The lawmakers sought divine intervention in the case of Waluke, who was sentenced to 67 years in prison and fined Ksh. 727 million.

Several Jubilee MPs and MCAs attended the prayer rally, which was led by Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga and Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama.

Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, whose rally on July 18, 2020, ended in chaos, was also in attendance.

The prayer meeting came at a time when Waluke's family was struggling to raise the Sh 727 million fine, with the MP's wife appealing to well-wishers to contribute to her account.

On July 21, 2020, the lawmakers took it to the Lord in prayer, literally, ahead of Waluke's appeal.
