On Sunday, July 19, 2020, a group of Jubilee MPs allied to the Tanga Tanga faction visited the home of Sirisia MP John Waluke to offer prayers and support to his family.
MP Waluke was imprisoned in June for more than 10 years after being convicted alongside others for defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board of millions of shillings in a maize tender scandal.
The visiting lawmakers, including Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga, and Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, expressed their solidarity with the Waluke family and reiterated their commitment to supporting Deputy President William Ruto.
Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, who is eyeing a governor's seat in the 2022 General Election, was also present at the prayers.
The family of the imprisoned MP pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and pardon Waluke, citing his significant contributions to the Jubilee party in Bungoma County.
Waluke and his co-accused, Grace Wakhungu, were ordered to pay nearly Sh2 billion or serve time in jail for defrauding NCPB.
