DP Ruto's Unconventional Lunch with Workers

Deputy President William Ruto's efforts to connect with the common man have been met with controversy, as seen in a recent video where he was spotted enjoying a meal with his workers at his Sugoi home.

On July 18, 2020, Ruto joined his workers for lunch, where he was seen eating a githeri dish prepared by one of his employees. The video, which has gone viral, shows Ruto taking a bite of the meal and then criticizing the high level of salt used in its preparation.

"Kesho iive mzuri na chumvi ipunguzwe," Ruto said, as he continued to eat and left his workers to watch.

Ruto's actions have been seen as an attempt to show his connection with the common man, particularly the poor and marginalized communities. His 2022 presidential campaign, dubbed 'Hustler Nation,' has been centered around this theme, with Ruto often being seen buying vegetables from farmers or eating with his workers.

However, his critics have accused him of using this tactic as a way to win votes, rather than genuinely connecting with the people. They argue that his actions are a form of 'tokenism,' where he only interacts with the poor to gain their support.

Despite the controversy, Ruto's efforts to connect with the common man have been seen as a positive step towards bridging the gap between the rich and the poor.
