On July 19, 2020, the Kenyan government introduced COVID-19 protocols for the public transport sector to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus. Transport CS James Macharia outlined guidelines for Public Service Vehicles, including the number of passengers they could carry.

Super Metro Sacco, which operates buses on the Thika Road route, has adapted to these guidelines by introducing a new COVID-19 compliance seat arrangement. The arrangement features one seat per row, with three rows in total, allowing for social distancing while minimizing losses for the carrier buses.

By adopting this new arrangement, Super Metro Sacco has reduced the number of seats lost to physical distancing from two to one per 4-seat row. This innovative solution demonstrates the Sacco's commitment to following health guidelines while maintaining operational efficiency.
