Published on July 19, 2020, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha announced that no university in Kenya has been cleared to reopen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, Magoha revealed that three Teachers Training Colleges have been cleared to resume studies after meeting the required standards to contain the novel coronavirus.
The three cleared colleges are Rangwe TTC at 65 percent, Kericho TTC at 70 percent, and Murang'a TTC at 80 percent.
According to Magoha, these colleges have put in place the necessary infrastructure recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Kenya's Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Magoha assured Kenyans that the government will not allow any college to resume studies in September if they have not fully complied with the required measures.
