On July 19, 2020, the entertainment world lost a beloved figure, Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula. He passed away at Karen Hospital after a short illness, which was complicated by a Covid-19 diagnosis.
Bukeko's life was a testament to his resilience and adaptability. Born in Pumwani, he was raised in Limuru and was the firstborn among five siblings.
His journey into theater was accidental, sparked by a visit to the theater with friends. However, it was a turning point in his life, and he went on to pursue a career in acting.
Off-screen, Bukeko was a devoted husband to Beatrice Ebbie Andega and a proud father of three children: Tony, Charlie, and Wendy. He was also a diabetic and had a deep love for food, which earned him the nickname 'foodie.'
According to his mother, Valeria Wafula, Bukeko's love for solid foods began at just three to four months old. He was also an avid scriptwriter and had a passion for football, being an ardent fan and critic of AFC Leopards.
His humor and charisma extended beyond the screen, as evident in his popular Coke advertisements, where he became known as the 'Brrr man.' Bukeko was also a mentor to many and will be deeply missed by his fans and loved ones.
