Published on July 19, 2020, a group of lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto has sparked a heated debate within Jubilee Party over missing party funds.

Led by Jubilee deputy secretary-general Caleb Kositany, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, and Belgut's Nelson Koech, the lawmakers have raised concerns over the party's financial management, citing a Sh1.3 billion shortfall in party funds as per the Auditor-General's report.

Mr. Kositany emphasized that the lawmakers' demands for transparency and accountability were not just as party members but also as elected officials.

The MPs have also questioned the party's rent payments, pointing out that it pays Sh89 million annually for its headquarters, despite occupying only 57% of the building.

They have called for an explanation on the Sh2 million payout to a senior state house employee involved in the party's management, describing the circumstances as 'controversial.'

While affirming their commitment to the party, the lawmakers have stated that they will only leave Jubilee after receiving satisfactory answers on the missing billions.

They have accused the President's team of engaging in 'sideshows' instead of addressing the pressing issues within the party.
