On July 19, 2020, the National Gun Owner's Association emphasized the importance of police officers following health directives to safeguard themselves against COVID-19 during their duties.

As part of their efforts to combat the spread of the virus, the association has trained over 7,000 police officers in 33 counties across Kenya.

Speaking in Marsabit after conducting awareness campaigns, Isaack Mustaq, a member of the National Gun Owner's Association, noted that police officers are at risk due to their daily interactions with the public.

Mustaq highlighted the need for police officers to take necessary precautions to prevent the contraction of the virus, citing their frontline role in enforcing government directives, including curfew orders.

Marsabit Police Commander Samuel Mutunga echoed the call, urging residents to adhere to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Mutunga expressed concern over the public's lack of adherence to health guidelines, citing instances where people wait for police to put on masks in public places.
