On July 17, 2020, Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli took to Twitter to congratulate his son Prof Lukoye Atwoli on his appointment as Dean of Aga Khan University's Medical College (East Africa), effective August 1, 2020.
Prof Lukoye Atwoli, an expert in psychiatry with extensive leadership, teaching, and academic research experience, will join the Aga Khan University family as Dean of Medical College, East Africa.
According to a statement by the institution, Prof Lukoye's tenure will begin on August 1, 2020. The university expressed excitement at welcoming Prof Lukoye, citing his experience and research credentials as key assets in navigating the challenges ahead.
Prof Lukoye previously served as the Dean of the Moi University School of Medicine, where he excelled at building collaborations and partnerships between the School of Medicine and academic medical centres in Africa, Europe, and the US.
He is currently a member of the WHO World Mental Health Surveys Consortium, a leading collaborative project in psychiatric epidemiology globally.
Francis Atwoli tweeted, 'Congratulations my son, Prof Lukoye Atwoli on your appointment as Dean of Medical college at The Aga Khan University (EA). As a family, we are very proud of you. May the Almighty God continue guiding you, growing you in knowledge & wisdom and protect you.'
