July 18, 2020, marked a significant day for the construction of Kipchoge Keino and Kamariny stadiums as Sports Chief Administration Secretary Hassan Noor toured the facilities to assess the progress.

Speaking at Kamariny stadium in Iten, Noor emphasized the government's commitment to completing the stadiums on time, stating that the funds allocated for the project have already been issued.

However, the contractors working on the stadiums have been warned that they need to complete the work within the deadline. Noor made it clear that the government will not entertain excuses and that any misuse of funds will not be tolerated.

"I want to warn the contractors that the government is serious, we are not going to allow any misuse of funds meant for the completion of the stadiums. They need to find a way to complete the work or risk being kicked out if the construction is not executed by December 20," Noor said.

Athletics Kenya President Jack Tuwei also expressed his displeasure at the contractors' pace of work, highlighting the importance of Kamariny stadium as a main training base for athletes.

"This is one of the oldest stadiums in the country. Some of you don't know that World Athletics has honoured Iten for the work they have done," Tuwei said.
