Charles Bukeko, the popular TV actor known as Papa Shirandula, has left behind a legacy in the Kenyan entertainment scene. He passed away on arrival at the Karen Hospital after a short illness at the age of 58.
His sudden passing has been met with shock and sadness from the Royal Media Services fraternity, where he worked for over a decade. Chairman S.K. Macharia described Bukeko's death as a 'cruel and untimely end' to a highly successful acting career.
"Papa Shirandula played a major role in shaping local TV productions in Kenya and earned himself a massive following in the country and around the East African region," said Macharia.
President Uhuru Kenyatta also sent a message to condole with Bukeko's family, describing him as a 'gifted storyteller' whose contribution to the development of Kenya's entertainment sector will be cherished forever.
"Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time," added Macharia.
