AFC Leopards has joined the nation in mourning the sudden loss of Charles Bukeko, a renowned TV actor and the club's loyal supporter, who died on July 18, 2020, at the Karen Hospital.
Shirandula, who was widely regarded as one of the club's most dedicated fans, left behind a wife, Beatrice Ebbie Andega, and three children; Tony, Charlie, and Wendy.
The club expressed its condolences to the family and friends of the late actor, saying, "We are sad to learn about the sudden death of our super fan and member Charles Bukeko. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this trying moment. Rest In Peace PAPA SHIRANDULA."
Other Kenyan Premier League clubs and fans also paid their respects to the late actor, with Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga saying, "Tunasikitika sana na kufahamu kwamba Charles Bukeko, maarufu sana kama Papa Shirandula, ameaga Dunia. Walakin, Mungu ailaze roho yake pahala pema peponi, sisi Kama wanabandari, tunatuma rambi rambi za msiba kwa familia yake, rafiki zake na mashabiki wake kote ulimwenguni."
Amani National Congress leader and Former AFC Leopards patron Musalia Mudavadi also conveyed a message of condolence to the family of the veteran TV actor, saying, "My sincere condolences to the family of Charles Bukeko popularly known as Papa Shirandula upon his passing on today morning at Karen Hospital. May his soul rest in peace."
Similarly, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed expressed her condolences to the family, saying, "I have learnt with profound shock the passing on of Charles Bukeko aka Papa Shirandula. On my behalf, my family and the entire staff of Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage, I wish to convey our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues."
