Charles Bukeko, the talented actor behind the iconic character Papa Shirandula, has left a lasting legacy in Kenya's entertainment sector. Born to live, he left too soon.
According to his family, Bukeko passed away on Saturday morning, July 18, 2020, after collapsing at the Karen hospital car park. He had been under home care after testing positive for COVID-19 a week prior.
President Uhuru Kenyatta condoled the family, saying, 'as a thespian he was a gifted storyteller whose contribution to the development of Kenya's entertainment sector will be cherished forever.'
Deputy President William Ruto described Bukeko as a 'towering, talented and skilful actor' whose performances will continue to inspire generations. He encouraged his family to remain strong, saying they are in his thoughts and prayers.
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Royal Media Services also sent their condolences, praising Bukeko's talent and contributions to the entertainment industry.
