July 18, 2020, will be remembered as a day when the entertainment industry lost a beloved figure, Charles Bukeko, alias Papa Shirandula, who passed away after a sudden illness.

Maisha Magic East Africa honored his memory by sharing a heartwarming video showcasing Papa Shirandula's life and career.

Charles's journey into acting began at the age of 30, a path he stumbled upon by chance. Before becoming an actor, he worked as a casual laborer, a job he took up after a relative offered to take him to Nairobi in search of better opportunities.

Charles was born in Pumwani but grew up in Limuru, where he was the firstborn in a family of five. His mother, Valeria Wafula, fondly remembered her son's unique personality.

'He walked very fast,' she recalled. 'Charles never liked milk; he wanted solid food, even at just three months old.'

Charles's father, Cosmas Wafula, also shared his love and admiration for his son. 'He never had any problems; I loved him a lot, like you would love your firstborn. He used to work as a casual laborer before coming to Nairobi.'

Charles's impressive career included starring in the popular show Papa Shirandula, as well as appearing in an advertisement for Coke and a song, 'Naku Love,' by King Kaka. Watch the video below to celebrate his life and legacy.
