Kenya's COVID-19 cases continue to rise, with 688 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of cases to 12,750, according to the Ministry of Health.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases on July 18, 2020, while in Embu County. He emphasized the need for individuals to take personal responsibility in controlling the spread of the virus.

"Let each one of us take personal responsibility. Now we say... let's take precautions... let's take precautions. Take the responsibility of protecting your parents, your friends, and anyone else," Kagwe said.

According to Kagwe, 4,522 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, with 425 men and 263 women testing positive for the virus. Three patients have also succumbed to the virus, while 457 have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,440.

Kagwe criticized politicians for continuing to hold rallies and flouting the President's orders. He warned that such actions could lead to the spread of the virus and the loss of lives.

"I want to warn politicians against holding rallies. If they continue to hold rallies, they will lose their chance to address the public and people will die," Kagwe said.
