On July 18, 2020, Kenya's Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe unveiled a new slogan 'Save Me I Save You' in the war against COVID-19.
The slogan is aimed at making each person wary of the person next to them, with Kagwe emphasizing the importance of protecting one another.
“We must protect each other,” Kagwe said during a briefing on COVID-19 from Embu County.
He explained that when one person keeps a safe distance from another, they are protecting that person, and vice versa.
According to Kagwe, 688 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from 4,522 samples on July 18, 2020, raising the national tally to 12,750.
Among the new cases were a 95-year-old and a 7-month-old, highlighting the need for vigilance across all age groups.
56 patients were discharged from various hospitals after recovering from COVID-19, while 401 others who were on home-based care were also cleared.
Unfortunately, the number of fatalities also rose to 225, after three more patients succumbed to the disease.
