Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has denied reports of his arrest at a City pub, claiming he was never detained at Kilimani Police Station for allegedly partying during curfew hours on Saturday morning.
According to police reports, Sakaja and other unidentified people were found having a good time at around 1am at Ladies Longue along Denis Pritt Road in defiance of the curfew order.
However, Sakaja has challenged the claims, daring those making them to show evidence of his arrest. He tweeted on Saturday, 'The Senator Never been arrested. Won’t be. Show me an OB Number.'
The incident occurred on Saturday morning when police officers led by Kilimani deputy police boss Adan Hassan visited the pub after receiving information that it was still operating despite the curfew order.
Police reports indicate that Sakaja defied police orders to leave the pub and threatened them with transfer, prompting the officers to call the regional orderly officer who too approached him in vain.
During the incident, other revellers managed to escape.
