Charles Bukeko, the talented actor behind the popular TV series Papa Shirandula, has left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry in Kenya.
On Saturday, July 18, 2020, Bukeko's family announced his passing, just a fortnight after he was taken ill at Karen Hospital.
As news of his death spread, Kenyans took to social media to express their condolences and share memories of the beloved actor.
Several leaders, including Governor Wycliff Oparanya and KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua, joined in the tributes, sharing their own stories and memories of Bukeko.
"Rest in peace Charles Bukeko alias Papa Shirandula. You were a self-made man who epitomised the joy and optimism of Kenyans," wrote KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua.
"You made a huge contribution to the entertainment industry in Kenya. We will miss you. May God give peace, comfort and strength to your family and fans," he added.
Many of Bukeko's fans hailed him for his role in nurturing young talent in the entertainment industry, with some praising his humility and generosity.
