Joe Kibe Elected Chairman of Council of Eminent Persons of Murang'a

On July 16, Joe G. Kibe was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the Council of Eminent Persons of Murang'a at a meeting held at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.

Mr. Kibe, a financial and governance expert, takes over from Dr. Charles Rubia who passed away in December last year.

Dr. D. Nyamu-njoka will continue serving as the council's secretary, while Dr. Peter Munga will continue serving as the coordinator.

The council's other members include Royal Media Services Chairman Dr. S. K. Macharia, Bishop Gideon Githiga, Maina Wanjigi, Amb. Solomon Karanja, Muthoni Likimani, Nicholas Ng'ang'a, and Prof. Lucy Irungu.

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia congratulated the chairman-elect, wishing him success in his new role.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, through CS Macharia, urged the council to continue its good work of seeking peace and development in Murang'a County and the country at large.

The Council of Eminent Persons of Murang'a was formed in 2015 and registered as a company limited by guarantee in 2018.

Its mandate includes building and sustaining broad political consensus, peace, harmony, and social cohesion among the people of Murang'a County and the Republic of Kenya.

According to the council, membership is by invitation only, and the nominee must meet certain conditions, including being born and bred in Murang'a County, having served the nation with distinction, and being a man or woman of integrity.
