Renowned Ohangla singer Lady Maureen, whose real name was Maureen Achieng, has left the Ojele memorial hospital mortuary for burial at Kopanga in Suna West, Migori county.
According to her mother, Margret Atieno, Lady Maureen had been bedridden for the past year before her passing, and was the family pillar.
She was 36 years old and had been battling illness since 2018, seeking medical treatment in and out of hospitals.
Her mother revealed that Lady Maureen had been discharged from Pastor Machage Hospital, which was her last center of treatment during her three-year battle with sickness.
Maestro Osogo Owinyo, a close associate of the singer, confirmed that she will be buried in her family home at Kopanga village, along the border of Kenya and Tanzania, in Suna West constituency.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family has contacted the police to help enforce social distancing during the burial.
May she rest in peace and may her fans continue enjoying her music despite her demise.
