Seneta Sakaja Arrested for Drinking in Public ¶
On July 17, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja was arrested and spent a night in police cell after being caught drinking in a nightclub in Kilimani, Nairobi.
According to reports, Sakaja was among a group of 10 people drinking at Lady's Lounge on Dennis Pritt Road when police officers arrived and ordered them to leave.
However, Sakaja refused to leave and insisted that the police officers inform their superiors about the incident.
He was later released on bail but refused to be taken to a police station within 24 hours.
On July 6, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta had announced a 30-day extension of the closure of all entertainment venues in the country as part of measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
