On July 18, 2020, a 20-year-old girl from Nakuru, Ann Wanjiru, had the opportunity of a lifetime when she spoke with President Uhuru Kenyatta over the phone.

Wanjiru, a beneficiary of the Kazi Mtaani initiative in Elburgon, Nakuru County, was thrilled to share her experiences with the head of state.

"We have a lot to talk with you," she exclaimed, wishing she could meet him in person.

President Kenyatta, who was also excited to talk to the girl, explained that the Kazi Mtaani initiative was designed to help as many young people as possible, with each participant working for 11 days before making way for others.

"We created the program so you can work and get paid and after 11 days, the opportunity can be given to others and so on so that this money benefits all young people who enrol," he said.

Wanjiru expressed her gratitude to the president's administration for helping the residents of Elburgon, and President Kenyatta promised to visit the area in the future to witness the progress himself.
