Jubilee Party Targets Ruto Allies Over Disrespect Claims ¶
Published on July 18, 2020
Deputy President William Ruto's allies in the Jubilee Party are facing the axe over claims of disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to sources, the party is planning to recall six lawmakers, including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Soy lawmaker Caleb Kositany, Kimani Ngunjiri of Bahati, Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Alice Wahome of Kandara, and Moses Kuria (Gatundu South).
The lawmakers are accused of publicly calling out the president using abusive and derogatory words.
"We are intending to recall the six MPs and very soon we will summon them to appear before a disciplinary committee to respond to the charges," said a top Jubilee official.
However, Kositany and Sudi have expressed readiness to face the disciplinary committee and are prepared for any consequences.
"I am not aware of such a plan yet but I can tell they are late, they should have done it long time ago. I only have one request, that if they intend to do it, then let it be done publicly," said Kositany.
"I have nothing to fear or apologise for if called. I am not shaken at all," Sudi said.
