Published on July 18, 2020, a report by uniRank ranked the University of Nairobi seventh among the top 200 universities in Africa.

While South African universities dominate the continent, with the University of Pretoria leading the pack, Kenyan institutions have also made significant strides in the rankings.

Kenya's top-ranked university, the University of Nairobi, has improved its position from eighth to seventh, a testament to the institution's commitment to academic excellence.

Other Kenyan universities that made it to the list include Kenyatta University (16), St Paul's University (53), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (61), United States International University-Africa (75), and Strathmore University at position 81.

At the global scale, US-based academic institutions took over half of the slots in the top 200 ranking, with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology leading the way.
