Family Appeals for Help to Clear KSh 759K Hospital Bill ¶
On July 17, 2020, Daniel Nyaiga, son to Crisantus Oswago and Isdora Auma, died at Eldoret Hospital in Uasin Gishu County after a long battle with cancer.
The family is now appealing for help from well-wishers to enable them to clear the remaining hospital bill of KSh 759,000 so that they can be allowed to take their son's body.
According to Eunice Njuguna, the Eldoret hospital Billing Officer, the deceased had been admitted at the facility on June 13, 2020, and died on July 7, leaving a bill of KSh 864,299.
The family has so far managed to raise KSh 105,000.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Rose Atieno, wife to the deceased, said her husband died when they had depleted their resources which were spent on his medication.
She further said that her husband had left her with young children and she did not have a source of income.
"I have been doing a labourer's job so that I can at least get money to buy food for my children since I'm now the breadwinner in my family," she said.
She also said her husband had sought medication from various hospitals including Homa Bay County Referral and Kisii Level five hospitals to no avail.
This made them together and friends transfer the deceased to Eldoret Referral Hospital where he breathed his last.
"We have spent everything on his medication hoping that he would get well. It is unfortunate he died," Atieno said.
While on his part, Oswago said the efforts of his family to raise funds had not been successful.
"My son's body is being detained in Eldoret because of the huge hospital bill. We have tried to raise the money to no avail," said the father.
"We shall be grateful to any well-wisher or leaders willing to help us bring the body home so that he can be buried in his home," he added.
