On July 17, 2020, a Nairobi court heard a case of alleged fraud involving a couple who claimed to be involved in an avocado export business.

Nathan Loyd Ndungu and Jennifer Mukonyo Mbogo, directors of Avoveg Health Kenya Limited, were accused of conspiring to defraud Ezetel Kenya Limited of Sh18.5 million.

According to the court, the couple falsely claimed they could partner with Ezetel to finance an avocado export business, a claim they knew was false.

They were further accused of obtaining Sh18.5 million from Ezetel by pretending to partner with them in the business.

The couple also faced charges of issuing bad cheques to Ezetel Limited, including one for USD 9,990 on March 28, 2020.

They have been detained pending a bail ruling.
