On July 15, 2020, a brazen robbery took place in the Dagoretti area of Nairobi, leaving residents shaken. According to eyewitnesses, a gang of four men, all wearing hoodies, shot in the air and made off with an unknown amount of money from a local supermarket.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 pm, with the men arriving at the scene on motorbikes. They had been spotted in the area for about 30 minutes before the robbery, giving them ample time to scope out their target.
Isaac Njuguna, a local resident, described the scene: "The mama mboga 's who were around told us that they arrived in the area with motorbikes and had been around the area from 7 pm looking at places that would be their target," he said.
The lack of functioning street lights in the area made it easier for the gang to carry out their plan without suspicion. This incident is just one of several robberies caught on CCTV cameras in the area in recent months.
On June 29, four suspects connected to a robbery incident captured on camera along Lenana Road on June 25, were arrested by DCI detectives and arraigned at Milimani Law Courts.
