On July 17, 2020, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi made headlines when he rejected his appointment to the Committee of Parliamentary Powers and Privileges under the Jubilee administration.
Speaking at a funeral ceremony in Soy Constituency, Sudi stated that he had no desire to serve under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta, calling the Jubilee party 'corrupt and selfish.'
'We are not beggars, we are the ones who formed the government but it is being driven by corrupt and selfish individuals,' Sudi affirmed.
His rejection of the appointment comes after a report by the Auditor General declared the Jubilee party 'technically insolvent' in a report covering the financial year ending June 30, 2018.
The report revealed that the party had more liabilities than assets, a situation attributed to the mismanagement of funds by party officials.
Notably, Sudi also poked fun at a report that revealed he hadn't spoken in Parliament since 2017, saying 'I have never spoken in Parliament and neither has Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and yet he is the one who they want to make president in 2022.'
