On July 17, 2020, Citizen TV's Stephen Letoo revealed that he had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.
According to a phone conversation with Pulselive, the journalist is asymptomatic and in isolation, treating himself at home with ginger and lemon.
"The company [Royal Media Services] conducted mass testing and I can't even believe it... It's true. I'm positive but I don't even feel sick. Now I'm in isolation, just treating myself at home with ginger and lemon...it's very scary by the way," he said in the phone conversation.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has been urging members of the press and government officials to exercise caution, especially in public spaces.
During a recent briefing, he emphasized the importance of wearing masks, particularly for men, who are disproportionately affected by the virus.
"Sanasana sisi wazee, sisi wanaume ndio tunaambukizwa zaidi (Especially men, we are the ones being infected at a very high rate.)," he said.
He also pleaded with men to follow prevention protocols, citing that two-thirds of infections are men.
