As the number of positive Covid-19 cases in Kenya continues to rise, the country's police force has taken a proactive step to contain the spread of the virus. On July 17, 2020, police officers and staff at Vigilance House in Nairobi will undergo mandatory Covid-19 tests.
According to a memo issued by Deputy Inspector General Joseph Ndirangu, the tests will be conducted at Vigilance House's conference room, starting at 10:00 am. The memo also instructed all leaders in various offices at Vigilance House to provide the names of officers under their command.
The move is part of the government's efforts to ensure that staff show a Covid-19 clearance certificate to access the building. This comes as the Kenyan government reported 11,252 positive cases on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
