Safaricom, Kenya's leading telecommunications company, has announced a planned maintenance for its MPesa services. The maintenance is scheduled to take place on the nights of Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, between 10pm and 1am.
According to a statement from Safaricom, the maintenance is a normal exercise aimed at enhancing efficiency in service delivery. The company has assured its customers that the maintenance will result in the least of inconvenience to them.
On July 6, Safaricom had announced an overnight maintenance plan that lasted for close to five hours. A similar announcement was issued on June 24, 2020, where the telco notified its customers of a planned five-hour maintenance plan.
"In this regard, our MPesa services shall be undergoing planned maintenance on the night of Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19. During this time, all MPesa services including airtime purchase shall be unavailable," read the notice.
While the frequent maintenance of MPesa systems may worry Kenyans, Safaricom has assured its customers that the maintenance is necessary to enhance efficiency in service delivery.
On July 6, Safaricom had announced an MPesa downtime from 11.59pm on Monday, July 6, to 5am on Tuesday, July 7. A similar announcement was issued on June 24, 2020, where the telco notified its customers of a planned five-hour maintenance plan.
