On July 17, 2020, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe launched an ultra-modern outpatient block at the Kiriaini Mission Hospital in Murang'a County.
The new facility, which was launched at a press conference in Kiriaini area, is expected to improve the quality of service and infrastructure for both patients and staff.
"I am confident that the new facility will radically improve the quality of service and infrastructure for both patients and staff," CS Kagwe stated.
The outpatient block is part of the hospital's efforts to improve healthcare services in the area, which is in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big 4 agenda on Health.
CS Kagwe's wife, Ann Wanjiku Mutahi, who is a special advisor to President Uhuru Kenyatta on matters concerning Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), hails from Murang'a County where the hospital is located.
The Kiriaini Mission Hospital is owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Murang'a, and situated in Mathioya sub-County. It was started by the Consolata sisters in 1955 as a small dispensary and has since grown to become a general hospital with a capacity of 72 beds.
According to CS Kagwe, the hospital served 63,772 general out-patients in 2019, making it a leading healthcare provider for locals in the area.
