President Yoweri Museveni is expected to seek a sixth term in office in the upcoming January 2021 general elections in Uganda.
However, before the elections, a group of ruling party MPs have taken a step to mend their relationship with the president.
They visited State House in Entebbe, near Kampala, to seek the party's forgiveness for previously opposing certain party positions.
President Museveni posted photos of the meeting on Twitter, showing the MPs seeking forgiveness.
According to the president, the party's central executive committee resolved to guide these MPs further to maintain party cohesion and discipline.
He also urged the MPs to avoid the politics of ethnicity and identity.
