Kenya has reported a significant surge in COVID-19 cases, with 389 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 12,062.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases during a press briefing in Murang'a on July 17, 2020. According to Kagwe, 3,545 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, with 233,641 samples tested to date.
Of the new cases, 260 are males and 129 are females. The youngest person to be infected is a five-year-old, while the oldest is a 95-year-old.
