On July 17, 2020, a shocking incident occurred at the Agricultural Training Center in Busia, Kenya, where a middle-aged police officer was caught engaging in intimate activities with a female COVID-19 patient.
The officer, identified as Police Constable Emmanuel Ng'etich, was manning the facility alongside other prison warders and police officers. According to a police report filed at the Busia Police Station, Ng'etich began a conversation with the patient at 10 pm, which raised suspicions among his colleagues.
As the officers investigated, they heard a commotion emanating from the women's ward and found all the female patients outside, complaining that Ng'etich was raping the lady he had earlier spoken to. Upon entering the patient's room, authorities found Ng'etich and the woman naked in bed.
However, one of the women quarantined at the facility claimed that the patient had consented to the sexual activity, but only changed her story when she learned that the other patients had known about the incident.
Ng'etich has since been arrested and quarantined at the same facility, with his firearm confiscated by senior officers from the Busia GK Prison.
