On Thursday, July 16, 2020, a shocking incident occurred at the Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) in Busia, where a middle-aged police officer was caught engaging in intimate activities with a female COVID-19 patient.

According to a police report filed at the Busia Police Station at 00:30am Friday, July 17, the officer, identified as Police Constable Emmanuel Ng'etich, had begun a conversation with the patient at 10pm. However, his actions raised suspicions among his colleagues, who rushed to the scene and found the two individuals naked in bed.

Authorities claim that when they went into the woman's room, they found her and Ng'etich in a compromising position. However, one of the women quarantined at the facility later told police that the COVID-19 patient had consented to the sexual intercourse, but only changed her narrative when she learned that the other female patients in the ward had known about the incident.

Police Constable Ng'etich has since been arrested and quarantined at the same facility. His firearm was confiscated by senior officers from the Busia GK Prison, and his samples have been taken for coronavirus testing.

Busia County Police Commander John Nyoike confirmed that investigations into the incident have commenced.
