Kenya's Nightlife Scene Revives with Eased Restrictions ¶
After a four-month closure, Kenya's nightlife scene has started to revive with the easing of restrictions. Popular hangout joints in Nairobi hosted successful parties over the weekend, with many venues operating at full capacity.
Onyx Lounge, Ngong Road, and Milan at The Mirage, Westlands, were among the popular spots that welcomed back patrons. The venues implemented various health protocols, including fumigation, temperature checks, sanitizing, and social distancing.
At Onyx Lounge, the award-winning singing duo Nadra made their much-anticipated return to the music scene with their EP launch. The event was a huge success, with the duo performing to a packed house.
"There is no way we can just be tethered to the house. The essence of entertainment, music, and dancing is to share the moment with people. We are back to stay," Nadra stated.
Other popular spots that hosted successful parties include Club 034 and Halcyon in Kitengela, where DJ Crème De la Crème performed. Evergreen Park on Kiambu Road also stole the show, with a cover charge of Sh300 per head.
At the Essence Fest, After Dark Jam Africa virtual performance, singer and songwriter Bensoul performed alongside celebrated Kenyan electro-pop artiste and music director Mutoriah.
With the easing of restrictions, Kenya's nightlife scene is expected to continue its revival, with many venues planning to host more events in the coming weeks.
