On July 17, 2020, a tragic incident occurred at a home in Athi River, resulting in the untimely death of Ruth Matete's husband, Beloved John Apewajoye, a Nigerian national.
Beloved John passed away due to an explosion of a gas cylinder at their residence. Following his death, his Nigerian relatives requested an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.
After an investigation by the DCI, Ruth Matete was granted permission to bury her husband.
