Manchester United extended their unbeaten run in the English Premier League (EPL) to 19 matches after defeating Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park on July 16, 2020.

The win saw Manchester United move up to fifth place in the EPL table, level on points with Leicester City who are their main rivals for a top-four finish.

Manchester United's victory was sealed by goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, with Rashford opening the scoring in the first half and Martial netting the second in the 78th minute.

David De Gea was praised for his extra efforts in goal, as he made several key saves to deny Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew.

Crystal Palace, who have now lost six consecutive matches under manager Roy Hodgson, were left to rue two key decisions that went against them.

Firstly, Palace were denied a penalty when Zaha was fouled by Manchester United's Victor Lindelof inside the box, and then Ayew's goal was ruled out after the VAR system was used to determine that he had handled the ball with his hand.

Manchester United's win has set them up for a potentially crucial match against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on July 18, 2020, where they will be seeking to win the trophy for the 13th time in their history.
