On January 14, 2018, a tragic incident occurred at Naka Estate in Nakuru East Sub-county, leaving one person dead. The incident has now made its way to court, with the accused, Humphrey Mwangi, facing charges of murder.

According to Naomi Wangui, Mwangi's mother, she arrived home to find her son and her boyfriend, Paul Boru, 37, fighting. Boru had bruises on his palm and told Wangui that Mwangi had stabbed him after they quarreled.

Wangui intervened, but Boru pushed her out of the way and took a kitchen knife. She left the two fighting and went out to seek help, but no one responded. Minutes later, Mwangi walked out of the house, covered in blood.

Wangui returned to the house and found the scene 'unbearable.' Boru was pronounced dead on arrival at Mediheal Hospital. A post-mortem report revealed that the cause of death was massive loss of blood due to stab wounds to the left central artery and the jugular veins with the perforations of the heart.

Naomi Wangui testified in court, recounting the events of that fateful day. She stated, 'I found my boyfriend with bruises on his palm. He told me he had been stabbed by my son after they quarreled.' She also said, 'I stood between the two and restrained Boru, who was a little drunk, from fighting with my son, but he (lover) pushed me out of the way and took a kitchen knife.'
