Real Madrid's 34th La Liga title win has brought immense joy to Zinedine Zidane, who claims it's better than any Champions League triumph.
On Thursday, Real wrapped up the title with a game to spare, edging past Villarreal 2-1 at an empty Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.
Karim Benzema scored twice, including a contentious second goal from a retaken penalty, after Sergio Ramos had initially rolled the ball for him to smash in, only for the effort to be disallowed.
Despite a nervy final few minutes, Real's victory was sealed, and they head into the final day of the season with an unassailable seven-point lead over second-placed Barcelona.
“This is better than anything. It takes a tremendous effort to win La Liga,” said Zidane.
“After 38 matches, you have more points than anyone else. After lockdown and everything, it’s astonishing.”
Real have won all 10 of their matches since Spanish football restarted in June, and their first title since 2017 is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
