Messi Criticizes Barcelona's Performance After La Liga Title Loss

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was left red-faced after his side's lowly performances in the La Liga, which ultimately led to the loss of the title.

On Thursday, Messi scored a stunning free kick, but it was not enough to salvage their season as Barcelona lost 2-1 to Osasuna, effectively relinquishing the La Liga title.

Speaking after the match, an agitated Messi criticized his side's overall 2019/2020 campaign, insisting they were simply 'not good enough.'

"We were a very erratic, very weak, low-intensity team…We lost a lot of points and today's game is a summary of the season," he said.

Messi was adamant that his team's performances this season were almost not good enough for the Champions League, and that they needed to change a lot to win the competition.

"We have to be self-critical. Starting with the players but doing a global self-criticism. We are Barca and we have to win everything. We can't look at Madrid…Madrid have done their job, but we have helped them a lot. If we want to win the Champions League, we have to change a lot. If we continue like this, we will lose the game against Napoli," Messi went on.

Barcelona's only shot at redemption this season is in the Champions League, where they also face an uphill task in overcoming a resurgent Napoli side.
