July 17, 2020, marked a significant milestone for Mary Trump's memoir, "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man". The book, which offers a critical portrayal of the US president, has sold nearly 1 million copies on its first day, including pre-orders, audio, and digital versions.
According to Simon & Schuster, the 950,000 copies sold on Tuesday represent a company record. The publishing house has since ordered more copies to be printed, bringing the total number to 1.15 million for the American market alone.
The book has also topped Amazon's sales charts in Canada and Australia. The White House has dismissed the memoir as a "book of falsehoods", while Mary Trump's uncle, Robert Trump, had attempted to block its publication by arguing that she was violating a non-disclosure agreement signed in 2001.
As a psychologist and the daughter of Fred Trump, the president's oldest brother, Mary Trump accuses the president of hubris and ignorance, and says he fits the clinical criteria for being a narcissist.
