On Friday, July 17, 2020, Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos joined German side Stuttgart on loan for next season, signing a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Mavropanos, 22, spent the second half of this season on loan at Bundesliga 2 side Nuremberg, where he made 11 appearances and played an instrumental role in the side's successful effort to stay in the second-tier.

Stuttgart completed the deal partly due to former head of recruitment at Arsenal, Sven Mislintat, who now works for the German side.

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Cedric Soares praised his team's ability to 'suffer' to ultimately win games under Mikel Arteta, citing their 2-1 victory over champions Liverpool as an example.

Soares said: 'I think in football, in some moments, you need to be able to suffer to win. I think we are improving a lot at this.'

Additionally, Arsenal have opened talks over a potential deal to sign highly-rated French centre-back Malang Sarr, according to reports.

Sarr, 21, moved to Nice in 2015 and has made over 100 Ligue 1 appearances in four seasons with the club, and is now out of contract and in high demand.

The Gunners are said to be ahead of their rivals to land the Frenchman, but are yet to offer him a contract.

It's added that interest in Reims' Axel Disasi has been made clear this year and, though that is yet to be followed up, Edu is keen on the 23-year-old.
