Health workers in Lamu County have downed tools in protest over the government's failure to provide them with adequate protective gear and COVID-19 testing.

According to reports, six health workers have tested positive for COVID-19, putting their lives and those of their families at risk.

As of July 14, the government had confirmed that approximately 429 health workers had been affected by the virus, with one fatality.

Normal operations at King Fahad Hospital in Lamu County came to a halt after health workers suspended their duties due to fear of the COVID-19 virus.

Health workers have demanded that the government provide them with adequate protective gear and COVID-19 testing, citing poor working conditions and inadequate facilities at the hospital.
